Today's topic is about Gana, it's also called gunam. By Gana we mean the qualities of one of the three lokas, Swarga or Deva Lok (Heaven), Prithvi Lok ( Earth ), Patal Lok (Hell). The 3 lokas imparts it's qualities to the native which are -
1. Divine
2. Human
3. Demonic
And depending upon these qualities the nature of a person, the attitude that person will keep all through his life in various aspects is judged. Also his desires are based on his nature. Judging the Gana becomes very important to understand the overall personality of an individual that's why for marriage matching it's highly considered.
The 27 constellations are divided into 3 ganas consisting of nine nakshatras.
There are three Ganas in Vedic Astrology namely -
1. Devta- These people honest, sincere, religious, God fearing, dutiful, kind hearted, generous, law abiding, helpful, do not run too much towards worldly posessions, respect others, keep away from quarrels and fights, and be spiritual, they also do not get jealous of others.
3. Manushya - These people have both mixed qualities, of both the lokas, sometimes they can be too kind hearted, sometimes over competitive, sometimes they can be driven by intense desires, sometimes they can be spiritual, they are normal human beings having normal qualities.
4. Rakshasa - People born in rakshasa gana can be quite stubborn at times, they don't resist from involving in fights and quarrels, they can also be very jealous and competitive at times, they are also very secretive in nature, however, that doesn't mean they are bad, they have very strong will power to achieve anything they want, and they will be good to the one who is good to them.
The ganas will depend upon what is the moon nakshatra at the time of birth.
The nine stars Kartikey, Ashlesha, Magha, Chitra, Vishaka, Jyeshta, Moola, Dhanishta and Shatbisha belong to Rakshasa Gana.
The other nine Ashwini, Mrigsira, Punarvasu, Pushya, Hasta, Swati, Anuradha, Sravan and Revati belong to Deva Gana.
The remaining 9 belong to Manushya Gana.
Well, gana is only a part of judging basic characteristics of a person specially in marriage making. We have to judge the navamsa nakshatra of moon too, ascendant of birth chart also is needed to be judged.
In marriage making they are used such as -
1. Boy, Girl, same gana will be matched
2. Boy- Devta, Girl - Manushya, (vice versa) will be matched
3. If both belong to rakshasa will also be matched
4. But if one belongs to rakshasa will not be matched if it doesn't come under certain exceptions.
